GROWTH & CHANGE IN PRACTICEEvaluate | Design | Execute
Strategic Change Recently, Gregory was asked to address a complex strategic issue classified as a need to update the "regulatory strategy." Following a round of primary interviews with various executive stakeholders, he reframed the problem as a need to address the growth strategy and expand the portfolio in multiple international markets. Based on the facts, Gregory engaged with various leaders to develop alternatives and then lead a debate to reach decisions the executive team could support and rally resources behind. Market & Customer Insights For revenue and profitable growth to be sustainable, market assessments can open the doors to opportunity. Take for example, a desire by a major company to expand the therapeutic scope of its businesses. Hundreds of diseases were evaluated based on relevant criteria, including unmet medical need. The result was a set of disease areas that were aligned strategically to the firm's corporate strategy and could offer new sources of growth. Resources were then aligned to these areas to turn them into new businesses. Operational Performance - New Organization Model Once a strategic decision was taken to spin-off a division from its parent company, the time had come to design a new operating unit that could focus on building core commercial capabilities and bring a new level of teamwork. First, Gregory and his team developed the conceptual design covering more than a dozen areas and pressure tested it with customer needs. A few weeks later, the team introduced the new organizational structure and operating mechanisms with a clear governance structure and roadmap for success. |
